Dr. Ashok Kumar Vaid is a Padma Shri awardee and Chairman of Medical Oncology, Hematology and Stem Cell Transplant at Medanta Cancer Institute, Gurugram. With 44+ years of clinical expertise, he has the unique distinction of starting one of the largest Stem Cell Transplant programs in the private sector in North India. He was the first to perform 25 bone marrow transplants at his centre. His areas of special interest include Cancer Genomics, Immunotherapy Guidance, Precision Onco-therapeutics, Dendritic Cell Therapy, and Stem Cell Transplant. He received his DM in Medical Oncology from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and participated in over 50 international and national studies as Principal Investigator. He is a registered post-graduate teacher with the National Board of Examinations and a panel university examiner for DM Medical Oncology. He was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri Award by the President of India in 2009 for outstanding contribution to medicine.
